Cool Ways To Make Money

I’m always learning new ways to make money online and since that’s what this blog is primarily about I thought I would do a random post on cool ways to make money online. 

Selling Images:  If you have a little talent with Photoshop, you can make a new income stream for yourself by selling your original images online.  There are several stock photography websites that are willing to pay you 50% or more of the selling price of the images that you submit to be sold on their website.  I am a frequent user of stock photography and buy the majority of my images and graphics from these websites.  I can honestly say that I’ve made several people in this business hundreds of dollars in profits each year from my purchases.  This money can be going to you, whether you have photography or custom graphics, they will accept your images to be sold on their website.  I’m only one customer and spend hundreds, so imagine hundreds of thousands of other web developers and web publishers buying images regularily.  It all adds up to profit for the takings if you do it right.  And you should know that better quality images sell the best.  I’ve purchased all sorts of images ranging from business people to abstract shapes to fullfill my online projects.  If you have even mediocre talent with Photoshop I’m sure you can produce images that will sell.

Sell Domain Names:  I recently tried this and so far so good.  I own over 60 websites and figured I would put some of my domains on the market to see if I would get any takers.  To my surprise within a few weeks I had my first offer for one of my domains.  I sold topvloggers dot com for $250.00 through sedo dot com where my domain is setup with automated content.  When you sell a domain through sedo dot com you don’t get to meet the buyer, instead someone offers you a price and you accept it or counter offer (all done through the sedo representative)  My transaction went through and I transferred ownership of the domain to sedo, in turn they transferred it to the buyer.  It did take over a week to receive my money, but it did finally come.  If you have unused domains doing nothing or you are constantly coming up with new names that you think may have some value, signup for your own account at sedo and put them to work.  Maybe your domains will bring a tidy profit like mine did.

Discount Codes:  A penny saved is a penny earned, and what better way to do this then to use discount codes for your online purchases.  Before purchasing anything online, I always do a Google search of “item discount code”.  Often I will find discount codes for printing, supplies and stock photography, which I purchase regularily online.  Take advantage of these discount codes on your next online purchases by doing a simple Google search.

Reselling Websites:  There are plenty of websites out there for sale and if you can buy one for the right price, you can do some renovations and resell it.  Many websites have thousands of unique visitors and the website owner doesn’t have the time to update the site anymore.  They put them up for sale and wait for a buyer to come along.  Websites like SitePoint have a sections in their forum for selling websites that you should really checkout if you are interested in getting into this.  Often you can pickup a long term established website for only a few hundred dollars.  That’s a bargain in my opinion, but others might find that steep.  If you can afford to buy one of these websites, carefully analyse it for its true potential and historical traffic figures.
