Affiliate Program Profits

Affiliate programs are a great way to make money online if you are with the right affiliate network.  They provide the offer, you put the offer in front of targeted traffic and wait for them to convert to sales.  Simple in concept but extremely complex to execute.

Let’s look a little closer at the first part, the “offer”.  After finding an appropriate affiliate partner, you will need to choose an offer to promote.  Choosing the right offer that will cost effectively convert to sales is the very first task.  Say you are familiar with the insurance industry and figure you can setup a lucrative traffic campaign using your various evil methods that would convert that offer to sales.  Knowing where a particular niche market buyers are roaming on the Internet is a critical function in making any affiliate program successful.  Whether you are buying traffic or generating it with your other dark side methods, you really need to ensure that your ROI (return on investment) is worth while.  This means that after all of your time and financial efforts have been added up, you are still making a profit.

Knowing how to make money and “knowing how to make money” are two different things.  There are many people making money online through various methods including affiliate programs, but they are not actually turning a profit.  That’s because once you add up all of their accummulated resources that are required to run their mini evil empire, they are not actually making a profit.  And I’m not talking about expenses like rent or food, more like PPC Advertising and the hundreds of hours they spend promoting their offer through their various traffic conquering methods.   Once you have established what you are getting out after minusing what you’ve put in, that’s your profit, and many affiliate marketers are not actually making a profit.

It needs to be every affiliate marketers goal to get more out of if then what they are putting in or else they cannot really call themselves successful at it.  From my experience, the only way to get more out of affiliate programs with someone elses offer is to know your paid advertising inside out.  You need to be well versed in keyword conversion, which means which keywords you buy for search terms that are affordable enough that it allows you to make a profit on the offer you are advertising.
